Local Community Grants

Community Grants Scheme is formulated to assist community groups in the Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District in meeting their running costs (current costs) and in finding new projects which create an asset for the community (capital costs). Projects assisted must assist in the achievement of Tipperary County Council’s objectives and goals. The scheme is funded from the Local Property Tax (LPT). The total fund for the scheme in 2020 is €50,000.

The groups that may be assisted include:

Tidy towns committees
Community committees
Parish councils
Sports, arts or heritage committees
Burial ground committees
Chambers of commerce or similar bodies.

For running costs, the types of activity that will be assisted will include;

Maintenance costs for landscaping and similar
Maintenance costs for equipment
Utility costs
Insurance costs
The group must show that the activity is of benefit to the community.

In relation to once off projects, the following may be assisted:

Creation of amenity areas
Creation of a community based service
Monuments of historic, tourist, or community value
Christmas lights
Rehabilitation of derelict or near derelict areas in the designated centre of a settlement
Project development costs for a major project to be funded by LEADER, RAPID, or similar scheme

Applications may be made at any time before the closing date 31st of March, 2020.
All grants must be drawn down by the 30th of November, 2020.
